OUR HISTORY
Buckpool Golf, Sports & Social Club, founded in 1933, has a rich history that combines the creation of the course during a time of economic hardship and the enduring legacy of golf legend John Henry Taylor.
The course was developed on land from three adjoining farms as part of a national initiative to combat the severe unemployment resulting from the decline of the herring fishing industry. Taylor, a key figure in the early days of professional golf, designed the course. He was one of the “Great Triumvirate” of British golf, alongside Harry Vardon and James Braid, and won the British Open five times between 1894 and 1913.
Known for his legendary accuracy, Taylor’s influence on the course’s design is evident, with the layout retaining the integrity of his vision despite some alterations over time.
JH Taylor Community Group
The JH Taylor Community Group is a group of golf clubs that were designed by J H Taylor, allowing for reciprocal play on the basis of a reduced rate green fee. The current participating course are:

OUR FACILITIES
Buckpool Golf Club is a welcoming and friendly club where it will be our pleasure to host your golf; be it as an individual, group or society. Full changing facilities including toilets, showers, and safe storage are available.
Before, during and after a game of golf, the club can cater for your every need. Our well-stocked bar and caterer can rustle up anything from a quick coffee & sandwich to a three-course meal.
For smaller groups our lounge is warm, comfortable and friendly; the perfect place to relax with a few drinks and reminisce about those missed putts or sandy saves. However, if you’re not a golfer, why not become one of our House members at Buckpool Golf Club? See details here for House membership.

The Function Hall being one of the largest in the area comfortably seats around 120 people with its own bar. It is available for parties and private lets We are also licenced for Weddings.
